Smoked Turkey Jollof Rice

(4.8 / 5)

Hello sweet team, welcome back to my channel. This is sweet Adjeley. I am so excited to see you guys today and I hope everybody is doing wonderfully well.

Todays video we will be making smoked turkey jollof rice, but the smoked turkey isn’t even the start of the show but the sauce that we are going to use is, it is pasta sauce. But don’t frown because this sauces can be so tasty you won’t even believe it and my personal favorite is the Ragun brand and I go for the traditional one because I will be able to season it, spice it up myself because its not much added to and it and gives my smoked turkey jollof rice taste incredible and good flavor.

So, sit back relax and let me cook while you enjoy.

Step by step method

  • STEP 1

To begin, I am going to parboil my turkey its optional I just do this to control the sodium because this can be very salty at times. Next, I am going to make my garbage bowl. I usually do this because when am done its late and too cold for me to go out so I get to trap or the smells of the onions and other vegetables when am cooking in here, that way my kitchen does not smell funky, so this right here is a life saver.

  • STEP 2

I will chop my vegetables up because this is a very quick recipe, I am not blending anything, this is one of my friend Ren’s recipe.

  • STEP 3

Our turkey is ready so we are going to prep it, so I have gotten rid of half of the water so we are going to use the other one in the stew, at this point I trim the end of my turkey because it has some feathers and I get rid of that because I hate cooking and seeing feathers in my food when am eating, they are very tiny but their there, but this is optional.

  • STEP 4

Next, I will put my pot on fire add my turkey, my spiced blend cube and my chopped onion and habanero, some shrimp seasoning, tomato seasoning and chicken seasoning give it a good stir and cover it and let it steam fry for about 5 minutes.

  • STEP 5

At this point its been about five minutes so we will add our tomato sauce rinse out the bottle and add the water cover it up and let it cook for about 8 – 10 minutes. then I will add my stock from cooking the turkey give it a cook stir and let it cook until oil forms on top of stirring periodically.

  • STEP 6

At this point our steam is done so I am going to add the washed rice, give it a good stir until every grain is coated and I will add about just a cup of water because I want it to be one-one, cover it up and let it cook for 15 minutes on medium low heat.

  • STEP 7

At this point it has been cooking for about 15 minutes, its looking good but its that quite dumb so am going to add my vegetables, cover it with a parchment paper, let it cook for about 15 minutes and you will see the magic of the parchment, at this point I give it a good stir and let it cook for another 15 minutes then our jollof should be done. So, here we go. Its ready. This kitchen is smelling so delicious you need to try this recipe and give me a feedback.
