Homemade Tomato Paste Recipe

Hello sweet team, welcome back to my channel. This is sweet Adjeley. It is another tomato season so
this time around we will be making tomato paste, yes, your own homemade to tomato paste. So, let get
right into this recipe. And it is only one ingredient.

Ingredients

  • In my case am using two ingredients because am adding the red bell pepper for extra rich red color but this recipe just requires tomatoes, so you can use only tomatoes if you prefer. And you can deseed them before you cook them or cook them with the seed. I choose to cook them with the seed, and am going to strain it, I really don’t mind about the seed but if you do, you can use the small strainer to get every seed out.

  • STEP 1

    So, once I cut everything up am just going to go ahead and set it on my stove and am going to bring it to a boil because tomatoes have a lot of water in it. Now, if you have a lot of tomatoes and using the same pot once it starts cooking down, you can keep adding your tomatoes to it until everything is in and cooks nicely.

  • STEP 2

    Once everything is cooked softly and the water have reduced we are going to go ahead and blend it then we will strain it back into our pots and we will simmer it down until there is almost no moisture left in our tomatoes and our paste will be done. It’s that simple, that’s all you need. So, at this time we are just going to watch it simmer so as this point it has a little water and you can see that the water is receding and you don’t have a smudge, so I keep stirring and letting it cook down until am satisfied with it because once it cooks down its going to be even more concentrated. And this is the point I want to get to and I am absolutely satisfied with this.

  • STEP 3

    So am just going to go ahead and turn the heat off and let it seat to cool completely and then store them, so our homemade tomato paste is now ready, we going to put it in our ice cube trays and go ahead and freeze it, now if you don’t have ice cube trays use your plastic wrap and wrap it up and put it in your freezer and it works just as well. So I smoothen it up a bit and I cover it with a plastic wrap so that the smell from my freezer should not penetrate and vice versa, if you are keeping it in your refrigerator you will add oil to the top of it serve as a preservative and cover it tightly and put it there, so there you have it, it is done we are just going to take them out of the trays put them in zip lock bags and voila your own homemade tomato paste with no additive, perfectly safe for you and your family.
