Hello sweet team welcome back to my page, this is sweet Adjeley. I am super excited to be reuploading this Ghanaian party doughnut recipe for you all. Look how nice, look how soft, look how gorgeous these doughnuts are, they really melt in your mouth. In a bowl, am going to add some flour, baking powder, salt, and some butter flavor. Am going to go ahead and mix it well and set it aside.
In a separate bowl am going to add my butter and sugar and am going to go ahead and cream it until it is light and fluffy then I will add my three eggs one at a time. Once you add, you will want to mix it until it is well incorporated before you add the next one. Once everything goes in you will want to scrape the sides of the bowl and mix everything well one more time.
Then am going to add in some orange zest, is totally optional. I like that you will use vanilla if you prefer.
I will then add in my flour simultaneously with the milk and am just going to mix everything until it well incorporated, ensuring not to overmix. You do not want to over mix this otherwise your doughnut will become tough. At this point everything is in, am scraping the side of the bowl and this is the perfect consistency that am going for. So am just going to set this aside and heat up my oil.
Once the oil is hot, with a clean hand you want to scoop your butter and with a pushing motion you want to drop it into your nice hot oil, one more time, scoop, push and drop. So, we are just going to drop everything in ensuring not to overcrowd the oil. And check it out, some of them begin to turn over on their own, I absolutely love that. The ones that are not able to do that you want to help by turning them over so that it does not burn, and you want to fry this on a medium heat. Medium high heat, just a little over medium so that it does not soak the oil and it does not burn on you.
Once it is nice and golden brown, we get it out unto a paper towel lined tray, and we allow it to cool. And ensure that you are going to clean your oil between fries so that you have nice smooth doughnuts. And if you do not want to use your hands, you may use the ice cream scoop and it works just as well.
